Map of Venues and Local Area

We've produced a map that shows the locations of the conference venues, as well as the accommodation that can be booked through the conference website, and some selected local transport links. Hopefully this will help delegates plan their visit. This map will be reproduced in the conference programme, and the delegate pack will also include a city centre pocket map.

* Due to ongoing roadworks in Edinburgh for the new tram system, some bus routes are being diverted. At the moment bus stops 15 and 16 above are currently not in use, and services are diverted along Waverley Bridge adjacent to Waverley Train Station and the Air Link terminal. However, by the time of the conference it is expected that the bus routes will have returned to normal.

+ Lothian Buses Number 35 runs direct from Edinburgh Airport to Edinburgh College or Art. The 35 is a normal city bus that departs every 15 minutes, takes approximately 50 minutes, and has limited luggage space, Attendees may prefer to travel on the Air Link bus, which has departures from the airport to the city centre every 10 minutes and takes about 30 minutes to travel to the city centre. Combined travel time is similar for both options.

Edinburgh Convention Bureau has negotiated hotel rates for Animation Evolution, 09 – 11 July 2010 and is pleased to offer a free online accommodation/registration booking service to delegates attending this meeting. (Hotel Rates 8-11th inclusive)

Credit card details are required to register for the conference and to make an accommodation booking and the confirmation will be sent directly to your e-mail address. Please note payment for registration is taken at the end of the booking process; in the WorldPay section. Payment for the accommodation should be made directly with the accommodation provider at the time of your stay. If you require registration booking only, please click "continue" at the very bottom of the page to go through without accommodation.

The review panel have completed their long task and the responses have now been sent out. If you have not received a response to your proposal please email animationevolution@animationstudies.org

My thanks to the panel who worked very quickly and patiently through an unprecedented number of submissions.

As presenters confirm their places we will be putting together the schedule which will be listed on the website.

Seasons Greeting and Update

Hello everyone. Just a quick message to wish you all the best for the season and to remind you to keep those paper submissions coming! They are steadily arriving and I expect a flurry around the start of January, much like the snow we’ve been having here.

In terms of conference planning, it is all coming along nicely. The registration and accommodation is being organised by the Edinburgh Convention Bureau and will be available for booking in February. They have arranged block bookings at good rates at some of the hotels closest to the conference venue. As soon as this is all ready it will be posted on the site, along with travel information for getting to Edinburgh.
